SPRINGVILLE, Utah, Nov. 21, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police were put through their paces before corralling a spirited escapee of the hoofed persuasion Wednesday rambling from Springville to Spanish Fork.
“Springville officers played cowboy today” the Springville Police Department noted online just before 5 p.m. in recounting the young horse’s adventure.
“She traveled from Springville Walmart, took a look-see at our fabulous construction site at 1600 South, then decided she wanted to run down Spanish Fork Main Street.
“She then “stirruped” some trouble and wanted a butter burger at Culver’s, then travel down US-6 where unsuspecting drivers saw a full siren police chase with her.
“Luckily, she also decided she wanted to check out Motor Sportsland, where we quickly enclosed her while she perused for a new motorhome.” The department also quipped with commenters on Facebook “Boy did she make a foal of herself” and expressed respect for the stamina she showed in the 5-mile-plus jaunt between Springville and Spanish Fork.
“We had a couple of awesome citizens who our girl took a liking to and assisted officers with roping, bridling, and after hours of work, were able to get her in the Utah Count Sheriff’s Office trailer.
“Thank you to Sonya, and Darwin, a good ol’ Payson cowboy, who literally broke a horse behind a motorhome and saved the day. Because of their help we were able to safely get this girl out of harms way.”
