Impaired Driver Sends Four to Hospital
MILLCREEK, UTAH – April 9, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A four car accident sent two children and two adults to the hospital in serious condition tonight. Officers say 37-year old, Tyler Crayk, was driving southbound on 700 east around 4400 south when he rear ended a green sedan in front of him starting a chain of events that would eventually cross four lanes of traffic.
According to Lt. Shreeve, of the Unified Police Department, Crayk then veered into northbound traffic and hit a green Honda nearly head on, which then spun him into the fourth car, a silver SUV, where his vehicle came to rest. The driver of the green Honda had to be extricated from the car. The female driver was then taken to a local hospital with injuries to her legs from the dashboard.
Two children, a nine-year old girl and a ten-year old boy, riding in the back seat of the green sedan, the first car hit, were complaining of neck pain, and as a result, were transported to Primary Children’s Hospital. According Shreeve, “Everyone involved was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.”
“We do have a strong indication that alcohol is involved in this accident, along with use of psycho-toxic chemicals. It appears that the driver may have been sniffing some aerosol chemicals.” says Shreeve. Crayk is being charged with a Class A DUI Causing an Accident.
The suspect was still being treated for his injuries at the time of this writing. Officers say they will charge him and let the District Attorney’s office take it from there.
