DRAPER, Utah, March 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol has identified the driver who died Monday afternoon in the multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 at 12300 South in Draper.

He has been identified as Christian M. Lantis, 25, of West Jordan.

According to a Utah Highway Patrol news release, at about 12:43 p.m., a white box truck, driven by Lantis, was heading north on I-15 at 11800 South.

Witnesses reported that the driver of the box truck was on his phone when the truck crashed into the rear of a small blue passenger car, the release states.

The truck then went left, and a large mobile home, towing a vehicle, crashed into the driver’s compartment of the box truck in what UHP describes as a “T-bone type of crash.” Lantis did not survive the impact.

The mobile home went left and pushed a Toyota Camry into the wall along the freeway.

Northbound I-15 was closed in the area from the time of the crash until about 5 p.m., according to the release.

At 6 p.m., drivers were still being advised to use an alternate route or be prepared for congested traffic and major delays.
