IRON COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An Iron County man has learned his sentence after convictions for aggravated assault and attempted burglary.
Elijah Wall, 27, was sentenced to 1-15 years in the Utah State Prison for the aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, and up to five years for attempted burglary, a third-degree felony.
These are the maximum sentences the court can impose, and will run concurrently, a statement from the Iron County Attorney’s Office says.
“In October of 2023, Wall had a verbal altercation with his domestic partner at the front door of her home. Wall assaulted the female, took items from the home, and threatened her and other members of the community.
“In May of 2024, officers responded to an assault. Officers learned that Wall had been lying in wait for the victim to exit a residence in Cedar City. When the victim exited, Wall struck the victim in the head with a metal tow hitch and then proceeded to strangle the victim.”
The Utah Board of Pardons will ultimately determine how long Wall serves in prison, the statement says.
