IRON COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Iron County officials have identified and arrested the suspects in a poaching incident last month.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources on Wednesday released a statement:

“Suspects used archery equipment and a spotlight to kill this mule deer illegally at around 3 a.m. on Aug. 20 in Iron County.”

The buck had a 24.5 inch antler spread, making the killing a felony-level offense.

“With the public’s help, conservation officers identified the involved individuals, and the case will be screened with the county attorney,” the press release said. “If found guilty, the suspects face potential restitution, fines, jail time and loss of hunting privileges.

“Our officers would like to thank you for continuing to use the UTIP hotline to report illegal and suspicious wildlife activity.”
