Layton City PD offers $500 reward, asks for tips on man who threw fireworks into July 4 crowd

LAYTON, Utah, July 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are asking for a public assist in tracking down suspects who were throwing lit fireworks into a crowd of people.

“During the City’s July 4th festivities, a large group of 100 or more young people gathered near the vendors on Constitution Circle, and then made their way to the soccer field at Layton High School,” Layton City Police said in an online post that included a suspect photo and which offers a $500 reward for information.

“A few people in the group were throwing lit fireworks into the crowd of people there to enjoy the evening. The male pictured here is wanted for questioning after being identified by witnesses as one of the people throwing fireworks.

“The City is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of one or more of the suspects involved. If you can help identify him or anyone else who was involved, please message us or call 801-497-8300 and reference incident number L24-17356.”
