LOGAN, Utah, Aug. 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 33-year-old man was killed Saturday in an ATV accident in Logan Canyon.

Officials were dispatched to the Franklin Basin area of the canyon about four miles from US-89 just after noon on a report of an ATV crash, according to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say the man failed to negotiate a bend on the road and went off the roadway, falling approximately 15 feet from a drop off.

The victim was not conscious or breathing when he was found, and bystanders began CPR while medical crews and a helicopter were en route. Medical personnel continued life-saving efforts when they arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of family.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in its investigation by the Utah State Parks Department and the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this story as information becomes available.
