PAROWAN, Utah, Sept. 1, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old man was booked into the Iron County jail after he allegedly put a choke hold on a 13-year-old boy at the Iron County Fair, causing the child to become unconscious.
The incident happened on Friday, and was investigated by an Iron County Sheriff deputy.
“I was advised there was an assault involving an adult, Coleman Younger, and a 13-year-old juvenile male. I spoke with (the boy) and his mother about what occurred. (The boy) informed me he was standing near the boat ride at the carnival when Younger came up behind him,” the affidavit says.
“Younger then placed his arm around (the boy’s) neck and began squeezing (his) neck with both arms, similar to a rear naked choke hold. Four witnesses that observed the altercation said Younger picked (the boy) up off the ground while squeezing,” it says. “(The boy) reported he lost consciousness and the witnesses said (the boy) was a purple color and was foaming from the mouth before becoming conscious again.
“(The boy’s) eyes were red and there was redness around his neck. Younger was located and denied applying pressure to (the boy’s) neck and said they were only playing.”
Younger was placed under arrest and transported to the Iron County Correctional Facility, where he was ordered to be held without bail.
