WASHINGTON COUNTY, June 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man from Central, Utah, has been booked on DUI charges after an off-highway vehicle he was driving rolled, causing at least two riders to be pinned under the vehicle.
James David Pierce, 51, was booked after both his passengers were transported to a hospital by medical helicopter.
Officials were called at about 1 p.m. Monday to an area south of Enterprise, near the Gary and Joyce Holt Reservoir.
“Witnesses reported the 2015 Polaris Razr lost control while navigating a corner and the vehicle rolled,” a Washington County Sheriff statement said.
“LifeFlight had already transported the 26-year-old passenger and son of the driver for what were reported as serious injuries prior to deputies arriving on scene.
“The cause of the accident is still under investigation, however deputies suspect alcohol as a contributing factor in the incident.”
Pierce was booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility following a medical clearance. Pierce was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury.
