Man critically injured in Glendale neighborhood hit-and-run incident

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 8, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for clues and a man is being treated for critical injuries after a hit-and-run incident early Saturday in Salt Lake City.

The incident was reported to dispatch at 3:21 a.m. First responders rushed to the area of 1040 S. Redwood Road, in the city’s Glendale neighborhood.

“Officers found a man on the ground with critical injuries,” a SLCPD public relations statement says.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, a car going north on Redwood Road hit the man as he crossed the road. He hit did not appear to be in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. The driver who hit the man did not stop, and likely continued north.”

Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance took the man to the hospital in critical condition, the statement says.

“At this time, there is no description available of the driver who left the scene nor is there a description of the car itself. Officers and detectives are working to confirm the man’s age and identity as of this writing.”

The roadway reopened after the on-scene investigation was completed, the SLCPD PR statement says.

“Anyone with information on this crash, or the driver, is asked to call 801-799-3000. Callers can also submit anonymous tips online through the CityProtect website.”
