GRAND COUNTY, July 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Authorities responded to a distress call in remote Grand County Wednesday, and found a deceased male.
At approximately 1:32 p.m., Grand County emergency responders were summoned to Westwater Canyon, in a very remote area along the Colorado River, for an unresponsive male with CPR in progress, the sheriff’s office said in an 8:30 p.m. news release.
“Grand County deputies, search and rescue members and emergency medical services immediately responded by ground, air and water.
“The male party was located, having passed, and an exact cause is under investigation by the State of Utah Medical Examiner’s Office.”
The location is in close proximity to Bowling Alley Rapid and the Room of Doom on the river.
“At this time, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office wishes to extend the utmost of care and concern for family members associated with this tragic event.”
