HEBER CITY, Utah, Dec. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The driver of a Mercedes Benz who hit the back of a semi Tuesday in Heber City was transported to the hospital after being extricated from her car.

The accident happened at about 9 a.m. on State Route 40 near milepost 11.

“There was a slower moving semi tanker in the right lane ahead,” a Department of Public Safety statement says. “The driver of the Mercedes failed to slow or change lanes and impacted with the rear of the semi trailer at a significantly higher speed than the truck was going.”

The woman sustained “significant lower body injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to the hospital,” the DPS statement says.

The male semi driver was checked for injuries, the statement said, but it did not report any significant injuries.

Impairment is being investigated as a possible cause for why the driver of the Mercedes impacted the tanker, the statement says.
