MONROE, Utah, Aug. 19, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man from Monroe has been arrested in connection with the death of his daughter, who died the day before she would have turned a year old.
The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday arrested David Lewis Anderson, 37, for child abuse homicide, a second-degree felony, for the death of Siri Anderson, according to a Facebook post from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said in the three months prior to the death, Anderson had sole custody of Siri.
The arrest was made after the review of the facts and information gathered by the Sheriff’s Office, the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office, and physicians, the news release said.
“We believe the facts of the case show David L. Anderson is directly responsible for the death of his daughter, Siri,” the news release said. “Deputies and Detectives were called to the residence on June 7, when Anderson said he had found the child unresponsive in her crib.
“The child was transported to Sevier Valley Hospital, but was unable to be revived. It was the day before Siri turned one year old.”
Anderson was arrested and booked on the charge, which typically is a $10,000 bond. But in this case the judge felt a $20,000 cash only bond was more appropriate given the charge.
Anderson is expected to make his initial appearance on Aug. 23 in Sixth District Court.
