ST. GEORGE, Utah, Jan. 15, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Tracey Bratt-Smith, mother of missing St. George teenager Macin Smith, marked a family milestone Wednesday with a social media message posted on the “Help Find Macin Smith” Facebook page.
In her latest posting, Bratt-Smith reflected upon the birth of her oldest son, Mitch, who turned 28 on Jan. 13. She noted that what was once a happy day had taken on a whole new light in the context Macin’s disappearance.
“I started to write a post three times today,” Bratt-Smith said. “My heart is particularly broken … ”
Macin, 17, walked out his family’s St. George home the morning of Sept. 1, 2015, after a quarrel with his father. He has not been seen or heard from since.
There have been reported sightings of Macin in Las Vegas, as well as West Valley City, Utah, but the leads have failed to pan out.
Extensive volunteer search efforts organized by Red Rock Search and Rescue out of Las Vegas have also failed to find the teen.
Tracey-Bratt Smith latest social media posting is as follows:
13 January 2016
(Macin’s big brother’s birthday )
Dear Macin’s Army:
I started to write a post three times today. My heart is particularly broken somehow as I celebrate this day 28 years ago that I became a Momma. Happy birthday Mitch!!!
I came across this post that was 2 years to the date. It’s a picture of Macin serving us as an assignment for his foods class at The Comp. He did so well at taking our orders and bringing out our different dishes and we had to rate him at the end of the evening. It was a fun memory for all of us I believe. The lack of his presence still hurts terribly . It is a physical and emotional ache. Praying for closure sooner than later.
Love,
The Momma — in Okotoks, Alberta.
Recently, Red Rock Search and Rescue issued a missing persons poster with an artist’s rendition of what Macin might look like after living on the streets for several months. Anyone with information on Macin Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call the St. George Police Department.
