MURRAY, UTAH – Nov. 29, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily) – Murray firefighters battled both flames and bitter cold temperatures after being called out to two early morning house fires Sunday.

Reports of the first fire came into dispatchers at 2:45 a.m. When firefighters arrived at 616 East 5600 South, they found heavy smoke pouring from the home. A resident and his dog managed to escape unharmed.

Investigators say faulty wiring appears to be the cause of the fire, although they are looking at the home’s fireplace, as well.

Fire teams were called to a second fire at about 5:30 a.m at 955 West Walden Hills Drive.

No one was home when the fire broke out.

One firefighter dislocated his shoulder when he fell through the floor of the residence, but was otherwise uninjured.

A family cat died in the blaze.

Still no word on what may have caused the fire.
