Paraglider killed in Utah County crash

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 9, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – A man killed last weekend in a Utah County paraglider crash has been identified.

Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon told Gephardt Daily Tuesday night the victim is 56-year-old New Lenox, Illinois resident David Gest.

According to Cannon, Gest was fatally injured Sunday about 10:20 a.m when he lost control of his paraglider and crashed in the Flight Park State Recreation Area located on the south side of Point of the Mountain.

Gest was flown by an Air Methods Corporation helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center Center in Murray where he died of his injuries, Cannon said.

The cause of the crash in under investigation.
