PAYSON, Utah, August 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A home in Payson was heavily damaged in an early morning fire Saturday.
Firefighters were first called to a residence in the area of 6000 West 8000 South West Mountain Rd. at 3:38 a.m. after the fire was spotted from several miles away by a Utah County sheriff’s deputy.
When fire crews arrived about 15 minutes later, they found the two-story home engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the Payson Fire Department were joined by members of the Salem Fire Department in knocking down the fire, which was initially reported to have started in a freezer inside the garage.
Residents were able to get out of the burning home before firefighters arrived.
There were no reports of injuries.
Fire crews remained on scene throughout the morning, mopping up potential hot spots.
Official findings on the cause of the fire will be determined by the Utah County Fire Marshal’s Office.
