DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A restaurant cashier in Duchesne County has been booked into jail after officials found numerous photographs of other people’s credit cards on his phone.

Andrew Shane Encoe, 32, was booked into the Duchesne County Jail on Friday for investigation of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including 10 counts of unlawful possession of a financial transaction card, according to a statement released Monday by the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.

Encoe worked as a cook and cashier at Sandstone Pizza & Grill, in Hanna, an unincorporated community in western Duchesne County, on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation.

Encoe had a photo gallery of other people’s credit and debit cards, sheriff’s deputies say. They believe Encoe photographed the cards while working at the restaurant, the DCSO statement says.

State court records show Encoe has a history of criminal convictions dating back to 2006 for theft-related offenses, the DCSO statement says.

Encoe’s most recent conviction came in June 2017, when he pleaded guilty in 3rd District Court to unlawful possession of a financial transaction card, a third-degree felony. Encoe was sentenced to 36 months probation with Adult Probation & Parole.

On Sept. 27, Salt Lake County prosecutors charged Encoe with unlawful possession of a financial transaction card, a third-degree felony, and two misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a financial transaction card. The case is still pending.

Duchesne County prosecutors have not yet filed formal charges against Encoe, who is also under investigation for possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of burglary tools, and theft.

Anyone who handed their card to Encoe while dining at the restaurant is asked to check their bank statements for unauthorized charges. If you discover unauthorized charges on your account, please call the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office at 435-738-2015.
