GRAND COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A small aircraft made an emergency landing on a state highway Thursday in Grand County.

“Well that’s an odd place to land a plane,” the Grand County Sheriff’s Office mused in posting the incident online at about 2 p.m. Thursday. “Highway 191 near the Arches entrance.”

The pilot, forced to land due to fuel issues, was the sole occupant and is safe with no injuries, the sheriff said.

“It was deemed unsafe for take off from 191 so the plane is being towed to Canyonlands Field Airport.”

The Utah Highway Patrol assisted on scene and the Moab Valley Fire Department was called out on standby.
