WEST JORDAN, Utah, Dec. 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in West Jordan have identified the man killed in an auto-pedestrian accident Sunday night.

Police say Joseph Charles Clapp, 53, of Kearns died after being struck by a westbound car as he crossed the street near 6200 S. Airport Road about 9 p.m.

According to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray, when officers they arrived they found Clapp unconscious and unresponsive.

She said it is unclear why Clapp was crossing the street at that particular location.

“He was not in a cross-walk,” Grey said. “It’s a very dark street. It’s incredibly dark.”

The driver of the car which hit Clapp was not injured and was cooperative with police.

Investigators say there was no sign of impairment, but added that it was still early in the investigation.
