OGDEN, Utah, Aug. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police say a 76-year-old man is not expected to survive following a scooter crash on Washington Boulevard on Thursday afternoon.

The man was riding a personal electric scooter north in the 2200 block of Washington Boulevard at 1:16 p.m. when a northbound SUV merged into the right lane to make a right turn onto 22nd Street, the Ogden City Police Department said in a news release.

The driver of the SUV, a 33-year-old woman, did not see the scooter, causing the rider to take evasive action and crash, the release says.

The man sustained severe head trauma and was taken to an area hospital, where he is not expected to survive, police said.

Traffic was reduced to one lane on northbound Washington Boulevard near 22nd Street while police investigated the crash.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
