SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Jan. 13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The South Salt Lake Police Department has released the name of the woman killed at the 820 Apartments early Tuesday morning.

Gary Keller, public information officer for SSLPD, identified the victim as 26 year-old Ashley Vigil from Salt Lake City.

Investigators say Vigil was stabbed by her boyfriend, 24-year-old Angelo Terry Kirstine, during a domestic argument. He’s been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on a first degree murder charge.

“The deceased appeared to have suffered puncture wounds to her throat that likely caused her death,” the probable cause statement says. “The A/P (arrested person) was the only person home at the time the victim was found in the apartment.”

Kirstine called a family member at about 12:40 a.m. and requested a ride to the University of Utah Hospital, seeking help for mental issues, Keller said.

While at the hospital Kirstine or one of his family members told medical staff that someone had been hurt, and needed to be checked on, Keller said.

Kirstine’s grandfather, went to the apartment and found Vigil’s body. Police say she appeared to have suffered puncture wounds to her throat that likely caused her death.

Kirstine was found to have blood on his shoes and clothes at the time of his arrest, and had “what appeared to have fresh scratch marks on his torso,” the probable cause statement says.

Police say Vigil had been in a relationship with Kirstine for several years.
