SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, May 6, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah man has been arrested after he allegedly posed as a 19-year-old in order to solicit materials from a young girl.
A probable cause statement from the Third District Court in Salt Lake County said Alan J. Tinoco, 31, is facing charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; enticing a minor by Internet or text, a second-degree felony; and dealing in materials harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony.
“The 16-year-old female victim disclosed she met the A/P (accused person) online,” the probable cause statement said. “She disclosed her age to him as 16 years old. The A/P told the victim he was 19. The victim disclosed the A/P began asking her for nude photographs and videos of her, which she sent to him.”
The suspect talked about wanting to have sexual relations with her, the statement said.
“The A/P told the victim if she did not have sex with him, he would share the nude photographs with her family and friends,” the statement went on. “The victim agreed to meet with him for that purpose Friday. The A/P was detained by police in the process of meeting up with the victim.”
After being read his Miranda rights, the suspect admitted he met the victim online, and said she originally stated she was 18, then later told him she was 16 years old. He said he discussed being intimate with her, received naked photos and videos of her as well as sent an intimate picture of himself to her after he found out she was 16 years old. He stated he saved those pictures of the victim.
Officials said the suspect then admitted to telling her if she wasn’t intimate with him he would share the photos. He told her he was meeting up with her to be intimate. However, Tinoco also told officials “he was joking and never intended to actually have sex with her.”
Tinoco was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail with his bail set at $30,000.
