Road in Eagle Mountain reopens after ‘possible explosive device’ found

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, Aug. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) —  Pony Express Parkway in Eagle Mountain has reopened Wednesday morning after a possible explosive device was found in the median, officials said.

The road closed in both directions between Porter’s Crossing and Smith Ranch Road at approximately 9:30 a.m. while a bomb squad responded, Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said in a news release.

Cannon said in a follow-up tweet the device was found to be a cone from model rocket. The item was removed and will be X-rayed as a precaution.

The road reopened at approximately 11 a.m.
