EMERY COUNTY, UTAH – November 25, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – An Emery County woman had a close call when her car plunged into a creek earlier this month.

According to an Emery County Sheriff’s office Facebook post, the woman’s car ran off SR-10 in Ferron and ended up in the creek on November 12. The accident happened in front of a female juvenile who was riding her motorcycle to a friend’s house.

The juvenile reported the incident to her friend’s father, Andy Deto, who is a volunteer firefighter with the Ferron Fire Department. Deto immediately went to the scene and notified dispatchers.

Emergency personnel along with Ferron Fire Department, Ferron Ambulance and Utah Highway Patrol all responded. Deto, Sheriff Deputy Minchey and a Utah Department of Transportation employee Jeremy Larsen were able to work quickly to extricate the woman.

Deputies said the vehicle was not visible from the roadway and would most likely have gone undetected for a long time had it not been for the juvenile witnessing the accident and the quick response of all those involved.

The woman was transported to Castleview Hospital with complaints of chest and back pain.
