Roy house explosion blows out windows, siding, sparks small fire; 2 transported to hospital

ROY, Utah, July 31, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were hospitalized after explosions in a Roy residence, which led to a small structure fire.

Crews from multiple agencies responded to the incident, near 2900 West and 5700 South, just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

According to reports, the people injured were a worker in the area of the furnace, and a firefighter who suffered heat exhaustion. The injuries were considered minor, according to reports.

At the scene, front windows were broken, and damage on the lower level included missing siding on the east side.

The cause of the explosions was not confirmed as of Wednesday afternoon.
