LOGAN CANYON, UTAH – July 31, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily ) –  Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a report of an aggravated assault near Temple Fork in Logan Canyon where three juveniles reported they had crashed their vehicle trying to escape being shot by a camper.

SWAT was called in due to the alleged firearm use and the area was fully contained, including closure of Temple Fork Road, until the situation was resolved.

SWAT attempted to make contact with the camper using horns and a distraction device but it was later determined he had left the camp to go to work.

When the camper returned a few hours later, he explained to investigators he caught the juveniles in his campsite around 4:30 a.m. He told officers after yelling at the juveniles he fired one round into the ground and that is when the juveniles finally left.

The three juveniles told investigators they crashed about a mile from where the incident took place but they were still able to make their way down Logan Canyon to call police.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the names of the persons involved are not being released at this time.
