SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 8, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police say a knife-wielding robbery suspect is in custody after allegedly stealing money and cigarettes from a Glendale neighborhood convenience store.
According to a SLCPD PR Unit press release, the investigation started Friday at 3:14 p.m. when SLC 911 received a call about an armed man inside the 7-Eleven at 1350 West Indiana Avenue.
“Based on preliminary information, a 58-year-old man, now identified as Scott Hunt, entered the store with a knife and stole cash and a pack of cigarettes.
Before making his getaway, Hunt allegedly “chased a clerk” who police say hit Hunt over the head with a stool.
“Hunt left (the) store and ran toward Indiana Avenue where he was taken into custody.”
Police said just prior to being arrested, community members allegedly saw Hunt stashing what appeared to be evidence inside of a trash can.
Paramedics took Hunt to a local hospital for injuries he received when the clerk hit him with the stool.
‘He is expected to be taken to the Salt Lake County Metro Jail and booked in on charges that include aggravated robbery and aggravated assault,” police said.
