SANPETE COUNTY, Utah, June 22, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A 43-year-old woman has been booked into the Sanpete County jail she allegedly told someone she had killed her father, and deputies found the body.

Aidan Marisa Woods was arrested for investigation of alleged:

  • Murder, a class A felony
  • Possession of controlled substance, schedule III-V, second offense, a class B misdeemanor
  • Use of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor

On Friday, Sanpete County Sheriff officials were dispatched to 452 N. Highway 117, near Wales, after being alerted by a person who stated that Woods admitted shooting her father.

Post Miranda, Woods “told that deputy that she had shot the victim. Aidan told the deputy that the firearm was in a trailer on the property. I later learned that Aidan lived in that trailer.

“The deceased victim was located in the home on the property with a gunshot wound,” says Woods’ arrest document, filed by an officer of the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller filled out a written statement that said Aidan had confessed she killed the deceased. The caller wrote, “…she said she killed Pops.”

A search warrant was granted for the property.

“Near the body, I located a spent shell casing. Inside the trailer where Aidan had been living, I located a handgun chambered in the same caliber as the spent shell casing,” the court document says.

“In the same area of the trailer, I located two cellular devices, which were later confirmed to be Aidan’s. I also located THC concentrate or dab, as well as a metal straw with burnt residue inside the trailer. That straw later tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine.”

Detectives later interviewed Woods at the Sanpete County Jail.

“During the interview, Aidan said that she had gone into the victim’s home earlier in the morning and retrieved a firearm. She admitted to shooting the victim with a firearm matching the description of the one that I had located in the trailer.

Woods was arrested on murder and illegal drugs and paraphernalia charges.

“The current offense is a felony committed while on probation or parole, or while free on bail awaiting trial on a previous felony charge. There is substantial evidence to support the felony charge. Aidan was released on bail for felony theft on June 10, 2026.”

Woods was ordered held without bail.

“Based on Aidan’s apparently escalating behavior, as well as the totality of the circumstances around this case, Aidan constitutes a substantial danger to the community and her family if released on bail,” the deputy said, in suggesting the no-bail hold.
