ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah, April 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily — A body was found Thursday as search and rescue crews scoured an area of Zion National Park for a missing Northern Utah man.
As of Thursday afternoon, officials had not said whether the body found was that of the man being sought.
A statement released Thursday morning by Zion National Park said a a 35-year-old man from northern Utah told friends he would be hiking in Zion National Park on Tuesday, and had not been heard from since.
The man’s roommate reported him missing when he had not returned by Wednesday afternoon, the statement says.
“Searchers are currently conducting a methodical ground search,” the park statement says. “Air support will be called in if needed.”
A vehicle belonging to the missing man was located in a park lot, the statement. The missing man’s name has not been released.
