SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 29, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are asking parents of juveniles to contact them if their children have been approached and inappropriately contacted by a man in his 70s, who was driving a white box truck.

Tevita Hoihoi Mounga, now 78, was booked into jail Friday for investigation of the alleged aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

Court documents in the case say that Mounga was also identified by a second juvenile as the man who tried to get her to enter his truck.

That child was able to get away.

Gephardt Daily reported that arrest on Saturday. Find the full story at this link. Be aware that the details may be disturbing to some readers.

“Because detectives believe Mounga may have been approaching other juvenile females prior to his arrest, the SLCPD is requesting anyone with information about him to contact 801-799-3000,” says a police statement issued Wednesday afternoon.

“Parents are asked to have age-appropriate conversations with their children and ask if anyone has approached their children and tried to solicit the juvenile to get into a truck.”
