SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 21, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was transported to an area hospital Monday morning after a shooting near 750 W. Jackson Ave., in the Fairpark neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

Dispatch was alerted at 9:08 a.m. to people hearing gunshots in that area. While on the way to the scene, Salt Lake City Police officers were alerted that someone had been shot.

On arrival, officers “stabilized the scene, and detained several people as part of the investigation,” says an SLCPD news release. “Paramedics took the person injured to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“The initial information officers received suggested the suspect left the house and started walking toward 800 W. North Temple. Officers are still working to determine everyone’s involvement and are working to determine whether there is anyone outstanding.”

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers have learned “there was some sort of argument inside a house between a group of people, which resulted in a shooting.

“At this time, there is no information to suggest a threat to our community.”

Officers have closed Jackson Avenue from 700 West to 800 West, says the statement, issued just after 10 a.m. Monday.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 24-248644.
