UTAH COUNTY, Sept. 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah County Sheriff’s officials are on the scene after a small plane crashed into the waters of Utah Lake near Pelican Point on Saturday.

The plane came to a rest upside down, about 20 feet off shore.

“The pilot’s calling it a hard landing,” Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff Office spokesman, told Gephardt Daily. “If the plane is upside down in the water, I would call that a crash.”

The plane, containing only the pilot, flipped after “landing,” Cannon said. The pilot exited the craft, walked to the shore, and refused medical care for what officials described as minor injuries.

FAA officials will be investigating the crash, Cannon said.
