St. George woman arrested for alleged theft of roommate’s 7 gold coins

ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 30, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A 50-year-old St. George woman has been arrested for the alleged theft of gold coins owned by her roommate.

Kimberley Lynn Vanderlinden’s arrest document says she unlawfully opened (her roommate’s) locked office desk, “with the intent to commit theft by taking the seven gold coins that were locked inside of the desk, and were in the same location of the previously stolen wedding ring,” says the court document, filed by an officer of the St. George Police Department.

“The gold coins were located at a local fine metals shop on 05-27-2026, but had already been sold. The coins from the shop were identified by images by (the roommate). “Kimberley had unauthorized control of (the roommate’s) gold coins that were taken from her locked office desk cabinet with the intent to deprive (the roommate) of the property.

“Kimberley was seen on camera at on April 30 of this year selling six gold coins to Allgood Coin Company located at 1091 N. Bluff #307. She was wire transferred $25,860 for the six coins. She was then seen again on 05-13-2026 selling one gold coin. She was given a check for $4,370. The coins were sold for a total value of $30,230.

When questioned about the coins during a previous interview, “Kimberley stated they were from her grandfather and were not valuable,” her arrest document says.

“Kimberley then had told her roommates that she might have taken the coins to a pawn shop, but the pawn shop was closed. She then said she couldn’t remember due to her dissociative disorder,” the arret document says.

Vanderlinden was charged with theft of items valued at greater than $5,000, a second-degree felony, with a domestic violence enhancement. Her bail was set at $5,000.
