St. George woman dead after suspected medical incident in Arches Nat’l Park

MOAB, Utah, Aug. 21, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — National Park Service rangers responded to reports of CPR in progress Tuesday on the Arches National Park Delicate Arch Trail.

“Personnel from Grand County Sheriff’s Department, Grand County EMS, and Classic Air Medical also responded,” an NPS news release says of the late afternoon incident.

“Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the 58-year-old female patient from St. George, Utah was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service are investigating the incident. The woman’s name has not been released.

The trail to see Delicate Arch up close is 3 miles, roundtrip, and climbs 480 feet, an NPS Delicate Arch webpage says.
