SANDY, Utah, Oct. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Sandy Police officials are investigating a fatal crash at 8830 S. State St. Wednesday morning.
“Northbound State Street will be closed at 8900 South for the next several hours,” said a tweet from Sandy police at 10:30 a.m.
Sandy Police Department Lt. Dean Carriger told Gephardt Daily the fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:25 a.m.
An 18-year-old male from Draper was driving a Honda Fit southbound when he crossed over the center line and collided with a northbound car being driven by a 72-year-old Sandy man.
The 18-year-old driver died on scene as a result of the collision.
The Sandy man was transported to Intermountain Medical Center and is currently in stable condition, Carriger said.
A Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team is on scene and the accident is under investigation, Carriger added. It’s not clear at this time if there were any contributing circumstances to the crash.
The deceased man has not been identified pending notification of family.
