MIDVALE, Utah, June 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is in “extremely critical condition” and on life support after a shooting Tuesday night at a home in Midvale.
The incident occurred in the area of 199 W. 8600 South a little after 10 p.m., Unified Police Department Sgt. Melody Gray told Gephardt Daily.
It was initially reported as an attempted suicide, Gray said.
However, when officers arrived on scene, they received some statements from people inside the home that did not add up and made them believe the incident may have been a suspicious.
Police have not elaborated on what those statements were, but violent crimes detectives and a forensics crew both responded to the scene.
The woman was transported by ground ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in extremely critical condition. She is on life support, Gray said.
A weapon was found in the room where the woman was located, and police have obtained a search warrant to enter the home. Further interviews will be conducted and investigators will be looking at forensic ballistics.
Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
Gephardt Daily does not usually report on suicides or suicide attempts unless they occur in public places or otherwise impact a community.
