LAYTON, Utah, Dec. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people were transported to local hospitals by air and ground ambulance Sunday afternoon after a northbound pickup truck on Interstate 15 lost control and hit a cement barrier in Layton.

Two other occupants, the only two wearing seatbelts, were not ejected or seriously injured, Cpt. Eddie Wright, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily at about 2 p.m.

The pickup, a Dodge Ram, was traveling north in the area of Church Street, Wright said.

“He went over and struck the barrier. After he hit the barrier, truck rolled several times. There’s five occupants in the pickup, three of them were not wearing seat belts. All three of those were ejected. So it sounds like all sustained pretty serious injuries.”

One was transported from the scene by medical helicopter, and two others were transported by ground ambulance, Wright said.

“No other vehicles were involved. The driver was in a seatbelt. The two occupants in seatbelts were totally fine.”

Gephardt Daily will have additional information as details are released.
