LEHI, Utah, March 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people were sent to the hospital after a collision Monday morning on State Street in Lehi.

Sgt. Bill Loveridge of Lehi City Police said the accident happened at 1:15 p.m. near 1200 E. State when a man in his early 20s driving a small passenger car turned in front of a large SUV.

“The man was traveling with a female passenger, also in her early 20s, and was turning off of State Street and apparently turned right into the path of a large Yukon,” Loveridge said. “The Yukon broadsided the small car and pushed it up onto the railroad tracks.”

Loveridge said the female passenger in the car had to be extricated. She was taken to Utah Valley Hospital by medical helicopter, and was in critical condition. The male driver of the car was also taken to UVH, but by ground ambulance.

A female in her 30s, driving the Yukon, was taken by ambulance to Mountain Point Hospital. Her male juvenile passenger was not injured, and was released to his family at the scene.

The accident investigation is ongoing, but Loveridge said there do not appear to be any immediate signs of impairment. A citation could be issued, but that will be determined after the investigation is complete.
