TOOELE COUNTY, Utah Aug. 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A head-on collision on an Interstate 80 on-ramp left one driver dead Tuesday and the other hospitalized.
The collision occurred on the eastbound I-80 on-ramp to westbound I-80 at mile post 99, resulting in one fatality and critical injury to another driver, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
“At approximately 3:57 p.m., a maroon Ford Explorer crossed the center line and collided head-on with a green Ford F150.
“The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 69-year-old female, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the Ford F150, a 61-year-old male, was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
UHP Cpl. Luis Silva said the pick-up driver was conscious when conveyed. The on-ramp was closed until about 8 p.m. for clean-up and investigation, he said.
