BEAVER, Utah, July 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol troopers were on the scene of a fatal crash on State Route 21 west of Beaver Thursday afternoon.

A tweet from UHP at 3:15 p.m. said: “Troopers are just arriving on the scene of a fatal crash SR-21 at mile marker 94, west of Beaver.”

UHP later updated the information, tweeting that the crash occurred at about 2:38 p.m.  about four miles east of Minersville (which is about 18 miles west of Beaver) as a white Chevrolet Blazer was eastbound on SR-21.

The vehicle drifted off the right shoulder, and the 17-year-old male driver overcorrected to the left. The vehicle then rolled as it went back into the eastbound lane.

A 14-year-old boy was a passenger in the Blazer, and neither he nor the driver were using seat belts. They were both completely ejected from the vehicle.

The 14-year-old died at the scene.

The 17-year-old suffered critical injuries and was first transported to Beaver Valley Hospital, then flown by medical helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center, UHP said.

The names of the two teens have not been released.
