KANE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Weber County man has been identified as the truck passenger who died Monday when a box truck swerved to avoid hitting a deer on State Route 14.
The victim was Sammy White, 39, of Ogden, a Utah Highway Patrol statement says.
The truck’s driver suffered minor injuries in the incident, which happened at about 2:50 p.m. near milepost 37 of SR-14, in Kane County.
“The driver stated that he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway” the UHP statement says.
“The box truck left the roadway to the right and overturned coming to rest on its top. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
“The 39-year-old male passenger suffered fatal injury and was declared dead at the scene.”
A GoFundMe account has been established, and says funds will help pay for White’s funeral and the needs of his son. As in all cases, Gephardt Daily cannot guarantee the funds will be used as stated. The listed poster is identified in White’s obituary as his fiancée.
“We have had a very unfortunate accident and lost our beloved Sammy Paul White,” the account says.
“He was in a fatal car accident when working on Monday afternoon,” the statement says. “I am starting this Gofundme to try to raise funds to help with funeral costs as well as helping his son he is leaving behind, Dakoda.
“If you knew Sammy, you knew he was all about his son. He was everything to him.
“If there is anything anyone is willing to donate to help out, it would be greatly appreciated in this hard time. We will greatly miss Sammy. He was a light everywhere he went.”
