The driver of the passenger car involved in the accident has been identified as Abbigayl Kraushaar of St. George, the Utah Department of Public Safety stated in a news release.

The crash occurred at about 8:35 p.m., when the passenger car heading west on Diamond Valley Drive approached the intersection with SR-18, where westbound traffic on Diamond Valley has a stop sign, the news release said. Kraushaar failed to yield to traffic and continued through the stop sign.

A pickup truck was northbound on SR-18 at the same time and collided with the car on the driver’s side.

According to the news release, the pickup was traveling near the posted 65 mph speed limit. The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital in poor condition.

Troopers are conducting an investigation at the scene; it isn’t known why Kraushaar failed to yield at the stop sign.
