WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Dec. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol troopers are on the scene of a 16-car pileup on eastbound State Route 201 near 3200 West Thursday evening.

“Eastbound SR-201 is shut down,” a tweet from UHP at 5:30 p.m. said. “Avoid the area by using I-80 or surface streets. Additional details to follow.”

Initial reports indicate there were no injuries as a result of the pileup.

UHP also tweeted that as of 5:20 p.m., troopers have investigated a total of 154 crashes Thursday.

“Nearly all of those crashes are due to either speeds too fast for conditions or following too closely,” the tweet said. “It’s simple folks, SLOW DOWN and increase your following distance on wet, slick, snow-packed, and icy roadways.”

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
