SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A driver is in stable condition after officials say he suffered a medical problem and crashed just north of Salina.

The accident happened at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, says a Utah Highway Patrol statement released on Saturday.

The vehicle was traveling south on U.S. 89 at mile marker 229, just north of Salina, the statement says.

“Preliminary investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle suffered an unknown medical issue,” the statement says.

“The vehicle left the roadway to the left, struck a fence and continued into the adjacent field. The vehicle then struck a utility pole and came to rest a short distance later.”

An off-duty officer from Gunnison came upon the scene, “and with Utah Highway Patrol and Sevier County Deputies arriving, CPR was administered to the driver. Once medical personnel arrived the driver was transported to the hospital. The driver was reported to be in stable condition.”
