Update: Police ID 29-year-old man dead after Weber County rollover

WEBER COUNTY, Utah, June 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 29-year-old man who died after a single-vehicle rollover on a dirt road in an unincorporated area of Weber County in the early hours of Monday morning has been identified by officials.

The deceased is Charles Mitchell Tanner from West Weber, according to a Tuesday statement from Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were in the area of 200 S. 7500 West in rural western Weber County at approximately 3:15 a.m. when they came across an SUV that had rolled several times, according to a news release Monday.

A short time later, deputies located a man, who had been ejected from the vehicle, laying in a ditch about 25 feet from the vehicle.

Deputies began medical treatment on the man, later identified as Tanner, until EMS personnel arrived. He was then flown by helicopter to a local hospital.

Once at the hospital, he was pronounced deceased by ER doctors.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle, officials said.

Traffic investigators determined that speed was a factor in the crash. The victim was also not wearing his seatbelt.

It is unknown exactly when the crash happened prior to deputies finding the man.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
