SPANISH FORK, Utah, July 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified an 18-year-old man killed Friday after a head-on crash in Spanish Fork.

Spanish Fork Police Department officials said in a news release Monday morning the deceased is Luke Allen Hansen, who was living with a sister in Spanish Fork and was from Weiser, Idaho.

Hansen was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, officials said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The crash happened just before 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and Expressway Lane.

Hansen was driving a green Saturn passenger car, and was traveling northbound on U.S. 6. His vehicle was going through the intersection with Expressway Lane when it hit a GMC pickup truck head-on. The pickup had been stopped in the southbound left turn lane preparing to make a left turn.

Hansen was taken to Utah Valley Hospital in extremely critical condition and succumbed to his injuries a short while later.

The 71-year-old driver of the GMC was taken to UVH with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

The two drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles and nobody else was injured in the accident.
