TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 3. 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a woman who died after a crash between a car and a tractor trailer in Tooele County Tuesday morning.

A news release from Utah Highway Patrol said the deceased is Kristina L. Martinez, 53, of Tooele.

The crash occurred on Interstate 80 at mile post 81, at approximately 7 a.m., the news release said.

“A 2000 Chevy Blazer and a Freightliner tractor with trailer were traveling westbound on I-80,” said the news release. “The Blazer was traveling at approximately 35 mph due to a separated tire. The Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling at approximately 75 mph. The Freightliner ran into the rear of the slower moving Blazer, causing the Blazer to spin off the right shoulder of the roadway where it rolled.”

While rolling, the driver, later identified as Martinez, was ejected and fatally injured.

The Freightliner swerved into the median and also rolled. The Freightliner driver’s injuries were minor and treated on scene.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
