SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Summit County officials said Thursday the search is continuing for a missing 69-year-old hunter.

Summit County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release it received information Monday evening at 8:55 p.m. that Carl L. Crumrine, from West Virginia, had not been seen since 5:30 a.m. that day.

Crumrine was in the eastern Summit County area for a hunting trip. He left his campsite on foot and was last known to be walking toward Lyman Lake in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. His hunting group went looking for him when he didn’t return later that afternoon.

A member of the hunting group then contacted law enforcement when Crumrine had not returned after sunset.

Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit County Search and Rescue deployed resources on Monday evening. Officials said Tuesday a search was underway with searchers on ground, horseback, and in the air with the Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter.

Wednesday, Summit County Sheriff Justin Martinez tweeted: “Search crews resumed search efforts this morning at 6 a.m. We are very gracious to all the agencies and personnel assisting in finding Carl Crumrine.”

Then Thursday morning, a tweet from Martinez said: “Search operations have continued this morning in the Lyman Lake area of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Summit County. We are grateful for all the agencies and personnel assisting in the search of missing hunter, Carl Crumrine.”

Crumrine is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 240 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be wearing a camouflage shirt, coat and pants and a hunter orange and black vest. He is also wearing Muck boots, a camouflage and orange hat and has a camouflage backpack. Crumrine is believed to be in possession of a hunting rifle. He was prepared for cold weather and had a small amount of food with him, officials said.

If anyone has seen Crumrine or has any information about his whereabouts, please contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 435-615-3600.
