HERRIMAN, Utah, Dec. 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The makers of High Octane Lemonade are inviting curious fans of legal drinking age to meet up at Herriman’s Redemption Bar & Grill to join them for a sample this Saturday, Dec. 21.
No purchase is required for the first sample of High Octane Lemonade.
Herriman residents Janell and Mike Brodale really just want to get the word out about a hard lemonade drink they have enjoyed for a quarter century at festive gatherings with their family and friends.
The hard lemonade is a drink Mike’s brother first created, and for which Mike went on to perfect the recipe, with his brother’s permission. It involves fresh lemon juice, light carbonation, a vodka base, and just enough sweetener, but not too much.
“My brother, back in the late ’90s, showed up at a party at my house with a bucket of it, and everybody loved it,” Mike said. “And he kind of just told me what was in it. So I made a recipe out of it, and would just make it, you know, when we go camping or to the sand dunes and stuff like that.”
It also became a special family holiday tradition, and a gift to friends who were interested.
“And everybody kept asking, ‘Hey, how do I get more?'” Mike said. “So last February, we just said, ‘We either keep making it just for ourselves the rest of our lives, or we do something big with it.'”
Janell said 80 percent of ingredients are sourced from Utah, and a Springville bottling company handles packaging.
“We’re Herriman residents, so being able to do the launch, our third launch, in Herriman, is pretty cool to us,” Janell said of the Redemption Bar & Grill event.
The two previous bar launches had dramatic results.
“We hosted the first one Nov. 23, and that was two days out of bottling, and it was the busiest that bar has ever been, after being open for like 11 years,” Janell said. “And we thought ‘Well, that’s kind of a vote of confidence from the universe.'”
The second bar launch took place in Arizona, “and the surrounding bars felt the impact of us launching because they were much slower than normal,” she said.
Janell said she and her husband have seen a lot of interest in the Redemption event from their social media announcements.
“We’re hoping for a packed house,” she said. “We’re calling it the ‘pour party,'” she said. “Our last of the year. We are honored to be working with Redemption.”
A few other businesses have reached out about hosting gatherings, Janell said.
“As long as there’s a demand, we’re happy to support it.”
At Redemption Bar & Grill, a three story sports bar, eatery, and entertainment venue, the Dec. 21 “pour party” runs from 7 p.m. through 10 p.m., with one sample offered without charge. Redemption is at 3517 W. Maradona Dr. Redemption’s grill menu selection will be available for purchase, as will daily features.
